Lonely Labyrinths Of My Dreams

This’ a faithful recreation of the longest and quietly disturbingest dream I ever had.  I have reoccurring dreams of me wandering all sorts of mazes: an undiscovered wing in the house I grew up in, the rusting halls of an adrift ocean liner, free-standing walls of a weirdo Daliesque landscape…  I THINK I’m in a small patch of my life where I know what’s what and who I am, so tell me why am I having these goddamn creepy dreams??  WHY???103-labyrinth.jpg

Dreams of being lost in a maze, may be symbolic of an emotionally disorganized person. I’m just sayin…

    Love ya!

Ty, I like it a lot. I like that its a departure from the norm—although I am a great fan of your norm. (Maybe your abnorm would be a better way to put that thought) Anyway,I think of your cartoons as being about pushing boundaries. This one definitely does that. I like it so much that I wonder if you even need the joke at the end. I’m up in the air on that one…Anyway comrade, I continue to be impressed.

i think it comes across coherent and no more open ended than it should be. i even like the shades of green you used– what rotten awful fucking colo(u)rs! : )

my one concern is that with the recent gloomy change of seasons and the rapidly approaching holidays are you sure you want to bum out your readers so hard? we are a fragile people.

I like. Words on walls give it a smart dreamscape feel. The pea-soup and maple-red colours from the first panel are spot-on. But what’s the order I’m supposed to be reading things in the end? I went across and then down to all the text on the bottom, and then thought I got it wrong.

Ditto on Mike and Critter’s comments re seasonal fragility and uncertain order. If it was more coherent, I think it would be easier to read and if this was in the middle of the summer, it might play better.

Your SADS is leaping off the page at me, back to the Lightbook for you!

    XO

PS - I see that you have mastered CS3…it looks great!

I started reading it, then in the second frame, I started watching an interesting YouTube video on some of the world’s strangest people, which lead to a video on the 1987 Crystal Lite Aerobics Championships, which lead to Olivia Newton-John singing let’s get physical, then her daughter, Chloe Lattanzi. Which brought me to me to AwfulPlasticSurgery.com.

What I’m trying to say, is that I too like the words on the wall.

    Love Jenn

It’s dark, but I like it. I remember you describing this dream. I love how the text is written throughout the different layers of the picture. It’s gloomy and not at all ‘comical’ but it a great depiction of that dream.
