Lettering the comic has always been the kick in the nuts of this entire process. Gettin’ the words to fit in the panel, to run straight, to be the same size - sounds like what we learned t’do in Grade One, right? Tryin’ to fit them around little talkin’ men and monsters is somethin’ completely different though. I find that word balloons are often competing for equal space with the pictures. One of the biggest challenges for me is editing, not writing, and thereby give the characters room to romp instead of bein’ squeezed into corners by words.
With this strip, I indulge my dialogue blather. Unfortunately, it was also the first time I tried lettering in all caps, and the results aren’t pretty. Thought I drew a pretty good John Mark Carr though…
